I'm Gian Geralcus

Based in Jakarta. I work at and am currently building PT Gateway Prima Indonusa as Business Operations & Technical Lead, with Systems Engineer as the way I tend to practice the role. I spend my days improving operations, refining legacy workflows, and applying newer technology where it helps the work move better. Evenings are for language models, machine learning, and the agent systems being built around them.

I've been highly interested in technology since I was a kid, pulling things apart to see how they worked, then putting them back together a little differently. The curiosity hasn't changed. The toys just got more sophisticated, and now they kind of think back.

Self taught, on my own path. No bootcamp, no formal AI degree. Just arXiv papers, Google Research posts, lectures, docs, and a steady habit of trying things and writing down what I find. The work is not abstract for me: the best tools tend to come from people who have felt the operational mess themselves.

I read papers slower than I'd like. I keep Google Research and arXiv close because primary sources force better questions than social-media summaries. I run small evals before I trust a model with anything that matters. Most of what I learn ends up in private notebooks. Some of it ends up in the projects on this site.

My formal background is supply chain and information systems, picked up across a few countries. The diplomas and certs are listed further down for the ones who care. The LLM and ML side I've been building from scratch.

Studying language models on my own path

This year is mostly reading primary sources and running small experiments across agent design, retrieval, evals, tabular foundation models, and the failure modes nobody wants to write about. Self paced, no curriculum, just questions and the time to chase them.

I keep a private notebook of what works, what doesn't, and where marketing claims diverge from research papers, lab notes, and actual operations. The interesting questions tend to live in the gap.

Not chasing benchmarks. Just trying to understand what these tools do well, what they pretend to do well, and where they shouldn't be trusted yet.

USEFUL FOR03 of 05

Where I can be useful

My lane is not hype. It is practical systems work for people who need operations to become clearer, faster, and easier to trust.

01

Operations clarity

Turning scattered work, documents, and follow-ups into a workflow people can actually run every day.

02

Systems thinking

Designing the bridge between legacy processes, modern data, dashboards, and practical internal tools.

03

Practical AI

Testing where language models help with classification, extraction, retrieval, triage, and decision support — with failure modes visible.

04

Supply-chain context

Reading technology through the reality of trade, logistics, reliability, landed cost, and operational coordination.
